Description

Crassula ovata 'Gollum' is a captivating succulent shrub or petite tree distinguished by its peculiar tubular green leaves, which boast flared edges and distinctive depressed centers, often tinged with vibrant red at the tips. Smaller in stature compared to the standard species, it typically reaches a height of around 12 inches (30 cm). Its branches, initially fleshy and grey-green, gradually transition to a woody texture with remnants of shed leaves marking their surface. The leaves, measuring up to 1.4 inches (3.5 cm) in length and 0.7 inches (1.8 cm) in width, exhibit varying hues influenced by seasonal and environmental factors.

This particular cultivar bears a resemblance to Crassula ovata 'Hobbit', yet distinguishes itself through its uniquely modified leaf tips characterized by deep central indentations, in contrast to the slightly flattened cylindrical shape with a lens-shaped depression seen in 'Hobbit'.

From mid-winter to early spring, 'Gollum' produces charming white or pink star-shaped flowers, each spanning up to 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) across, arranged in dense terminal clusters.
